We are excited to announce that in 2026 we have matching funds and eligbility for SNAP members to join our CSA. Food access has always been a driving force for our farm, especially in our local Philmont community (a food desert). A food desert is an area that has limited access to affordable and nutritious food. In contrast, an area with greater access to supermarkets and vegetable shops with fresh foods may be called a food oasis. CSA is a SNAP members will use their EBT Card (SNAP benefits) to pay for their CSA share weekly throughout the season. As most members pay all at once in the beginning of the season, CSA is a SNAP members pay for the same exact share but on a weekly basis with their EBT card. They pay for 50% of the cost of the CSA share each week, and Glynwood matches 50% of the share. This allows eligible lower-income SNAP members to be part of our CSA and enjoy the fresh, delicious weekly produce harvested from our farm without the financial pressure of a one-time payment and with the ease of a subsidized weekly rate. CSA is a SNAP is made possible by our participation in the Hudson Valley CSA Coalition, facilitated by Glynwood, and supported by the Gus Schumacher Nutrition Incentive Grant Program grant no. 2023-70415-41205 from the USDA National Institute of Food and Agriculture.
