This is a reliable, productive garlic, grown in Oregon for generations. It is very similar to our Red Spanish, but a tiny bit earlier. Like our Red Spanish, our Red German came to us described as a Rocambole, however we have since determined it to be a Turban, which also means it's easy to grow into nice big heads. Very spicy-hot raw, but rich and sweet when roasted. Medium-large bulbs with large easy-peel cloves. Earliest harvest, and keeps reasonably well, into winter.
Since 1991, every season is full of abundance at Whistling Duck Farm, from winter cold-frames full of sweet succulent greens to springtime field plantings, summer harvests and fall feasting. We grow an abundance of fruits and vegetables for our farm store, local markets and wholesale accounts, as well as to supply our Farm Kitchen and Fermentaria. Our seed garlic ships to farmers and gardeners throughout the country, and vegetable seeds we grow on contract are available through many sites.
