Upper Oak Farm is a veteran owned small family farm in central Minnesota. Over the past 5 years, we have been building up our market garden, orchard, and two high tunnel (greenhouses) with the goal of providing fresh fruits and veggies in our area. Background: In 2006 Ty and Kelly Peterson purchased land in the rolling green hills of central Minnesota, just west of the Brainerd Lakes Area. In 2016 they founded Upper Oak Farm as the permanent home for Acorn Hill Equine Assisted Activities and Therapies. Upper Oak Farm began with the vision of a self sufficient farm where Acorn Hill could provide therapy for people with disabilities in central Minnesota. Initially we purchased hay for the program ponies, but soon began to cut and bale it from our own 120 acres and as we began to produce more than we needed, our hay business was born. Over time we added an orchard, a garden, two high tunnels (like greenhouses) and began to improve the pastures so they would all produce horse quality hay. In 2023 we grew as two partners joined us on the farm. Today, Upper Oak Farm operates a thriving market garden, produces quality equine and cattle hay, and is home to Acorn Hill Equine Assisted Activities and Therapies, Equus North Therapy, Simple Changes Riding School, and Upper Oak Stables.
