Pfeffernusse — meaning pepper-nuts in German — for their smaller size and crunchy exterior, are traditional German cookies full of satisfying flavor. Not overly sweet but intricately spiced, pfeffernusse cookies feature distinctive notes of anise and pepper, balanced by molasses and honey.
We’ve heard (and confirmed 😉) they’re delicious crumbled over vanilla ice cream, dipped into coffee or whiskey, served on a holiday cookie spread, and, of course, eaten straight from the bag.
We’re so excited to be baking them for our community for a third year in a row. As we hone our skill crafting this unique cookie, we gain a greater appreciation for their unique taste and texture.
