Seedling, Tomato, Heirloom, Paul Robeson
Description
Indeterminate Heirloom Slicing Tomato. This Russian heirloom was named in honor of Paul Robeson (1898-1976), a crusader for racial equality and social justice. His namesake tomato has a cult following among seed savers. The maroon, brick-red fruits have dark green shoulders and grow 6-12 oz. Paul Robesons have a distinctive, sweet-smoky taste. It's a sandwich tomato with a tang; an extraordinary tomato for an extraordinary man. Mid-late season. Harden off and plant outside once night time temperatures are consistently above 50 degrees. Grows well in the ground or in a container. If you are planting in a container, tomatoes benefit from having at least a 5 gallon bucket sized container for each plant. They will also need some kind of plant cage or trellising to help keep them upright. 78 days to harvest
