When Will I Get My Beef? 1. Once your order is placed, we begin the process of selecting healthy steers that are ready for processing. Orders are prioritized based on the date your deposit was received, ensuring fairness in the fulfillment process. 2. We fulfill orders in the sequence they were placed, but availability can vary. At times, we may have animals ready for immediate processing, while other times, orders may be booked out several months in advance. This is why securing your deposit early is crucial—the higher you are on the list, the sooner you will receive your beef. 3. Our processor occasionally has limited availability for processing dates, which can result in a wait of several weeks to secure an appointment. By knowing in advance how many cattle we need to process and when, we can schedule these appointments well ahead of time. This is another key reason why submitting your deposit early is crucial—it allows us to plan more efficiently and secure timely processing for your order. 4. Rest assured, we will keep you informed and reach out as your order approaches the processing stage to ensure everything is on track. 5. If you have any questions prior to securing your beef with a deposit, feel free to email us any time at smr-cattle@smr-cattle.com Why Are Deposits Non-Refundable? Deposits are a critical part of our process and serve several important functions. Here’s why they are non-refundable: 1. Rising Costs and Operational Commitment: Once a customer places a deposit, we commit to holding the cattle over the winter to ensure their order is fulfilled. During this period, the cost of caring for and maintaining the cattle continues to increase. If an order is canceled, we not only lose the production costs already invested in the cattle, but we also incur additional expenses to market and find a new buyer. Should we fail to find a replacement customer, we may have to sell the cattle at auction, which often results in a financial loss. 2. Securing Customer Commitment: A non-refundable deposit ensures that customers are serious about their purchase and provides an incentive to follow through with their order. Raising cattle for custom orders involves a significant upfront investment in time, resources, and care, and the deposit helps safeguard against unpredictable cancellations, which can disrupt our operations and planning. 3. Efficient Resource Allocation: Deposits allow us to allocate our resources—feed, healthcare, and pasture management—more effectively. When customers commit to their orders, it helps us manage our cattle stock and infrastructure more efficiently. Cancellations not only lead to financial losses but also disrupt our ability to plan for the future needs of the herd and our customers. 4. Preventing Market Disruptions: Each deposit helps stabilize our business model, allowing us to continue offering high-quality, grass-fed beef to our community. Non-refundable deposits reduce uncertainty in a fluctuating market, ensuring we can maintain our standards and continue supporting local food production. In short, non-refundable deposits help us manage the real costs of raising cattle, secure operational stability, and maintain a reliable supply of beef for our customers. By making this commitment, both parties benefit from a smoother, more predictable process.
