About Vegetable
Fully-customized vegetable baskets, available in 3 sizes, weekly, biweekly or monthly
Eating healthy, local, seasonal food has never been this easy! Join our CSA (community supported agriculture) program to get your fresh, local, organic vegetables all summer. All the vegetables are grown (certified organic by TCO Cert) and harvested on our farm and packed for you, from the middle of June to the end of October. We offer 3 different sizes (L, M, S) and 3 delivery frequencies (weekly, bi-weekly, monthly) to fit your veggie needs! And, our shares are fully customized for each customer -- you select your favourites from what we have available each week! Pick up at the farm or at one of our convenient delivery spots in Owen Sound, Balmy Beach, Big Bay, Wiarton, Lion's Head, Mallory Beach, Sauble Beach, Southampton and Port Elgin. Vacation days allow you to miss a week and get credit to use another week. In a CSA (community supported agriculture) program, farmers and eaters make a commitment to each other at the beginning of the growing season. Throughout the summer and fall, members regularly receive a share of the farm’s produce. Benefits for Eaters include: 1) easy access to fresh, local, certified organic vegetables at a reasonable price, 2) fully customized shares, and 3) an opportunity to learn about agriculture, visit the farm, and know your farmers. Benefits for Farmers include: 1) a predictable market for a very perishable product, 2) income at the start of the season when many production expenses occur, and 3) an opportunity to get direct feedback from the eaters! While we love the CSA model, we know it's not for everyone and that’s okay. Here are some questions to help you decide if a CSA vegetable share is for you: 1) Are fresh, local, delicious, certified organic vegetables important to you? 2) Do you enjoy cooking and do you cook from scratch, several times each week? 3) Are you willing to try new vegetables? 4) Are you able to give up some control over menu planning and embrace truly seasonal eating? 5) Can you improvise in the kitchen and adapt recipes? If a recipe calls for spinach, can you make use of chard? If you answered "no" to several of these questions, then perhaps now is not the time to join our CSA vegetable share program. Instead, during the harvest season, you can purchase items through our online store and have them delivered just like the CSA shares, without committing to a full season. CSA shares are given priority access to popular (e.g. peas, broccoli) vegetables, because we appreciate the commitment CSA members make to us.
