The 2026-27 Winter CSA will run from the last week of October through mid-March, with most shares coming every other week, and include 10 veggie boxes.
A regular (medium) share is designed for 2-4 people and filled with delicious, hearty winter staples. Each veggie box will weigh 12-14 lbs. and contain 5-7 different storage vegetables. These vegetables include classics like carrots, potatoes, onions/garlic, cabbages, and squash, as well as interesting varieties of beets, parsnips, kohlrabis, pumpkins, turnips, rutabagas, and winter radishes. Most of the veggies will come in a wide array of colors and shapes. Because of the limited selection of long-storage vegetables, the variety will narrow as the season goes on. That said, we aim to deliver top quality from start to finish.
There are three options for picking up your vegetables. (1) Directly from Offbeet Farm: starting on Wednesdays at 2 pm, you can pick up your vegetables anytime until Sunday evening. You will receive a code for unlocking the door and be able to pick up veggies at your leisure. (2) From The Roaming Root Cellar on Wednesday evenings from 3:30-6 pm. (3) From the Goldstream Winter Farmers Market at Ken Kunkle Community Center on Sunday afternoons from 2-4:30 pm.
** A Note About Pick Up ** You can send family or friends to pick up your veggies in your stead. Please make these arrangements if you’re unable to come yourself. If your share isn’t picked up by the end of the pickup, we’ll bring it back to the farm where it will be available for 5 days. If it’s not picked up after 5 days (or after Sunday for members picking up from the farm), your veggies will be donated at our discretion.
You have the option to skip one share through the winter so long as you request it at least two days before a pickup starts. You’ll then receive farm credit for the value of the missed share, which you can use to cover a “make-up” share that comes at the end of March.
** The Spirit of CSAs and Sharing Risk ** The original idea behind community shared agriculture programs was for customers to share in the risks of producing food with the farmers. Winter veggie CSAs are a little different from their original summer counterparts because, at the time of selling, we farmers largely know what are harvests will be. The risks with winter CSA are mainly in storage.
What we’re calling a winter CSA isn’t a CSA in the truest sense. We’re not asking you to share the risks of farming and storage with us. If, for example, we unexpectedly lost a large portion of our stored crops, we’d refund you the value of veggies you didn’t receive. That means, however, if there’s a bumper crop, we can choose to sell the excess elsewhere.
We will always try to get you the full value of your share. If we’re low on one veggie, we’ll replace it with more of something else (within reason). We want you to be happy with the veggies you receive! We do our best to sort out any damaged vegetables, but we inevitably miss things. Please let us know if you receive anything that’s “off” and we’ll replace it in a future share.
