Our most popular open-pollinated tomato. Saved seed, originally sourced from Southern Exposure: Large, smooth fruits (10-12 oz) with slightly ridged shoulders. Ripens to a unique dark, dusky pink/purple. Sometimes called a black tomato, the color carries through to the flesh, especially at the stem end. Good resistance to Septoria leaf spot. A shorter indeterminate, plants average 5 ft. tall. ‘Cherokee Purple’ has spread widely since its introduction, with variations developing over time, but our strain is still the original, shorter shape.
We're a small farm with diverse food, flower and herb production tucked in the Swannanoa Valley of Western North Carolina.
We are committed to beyond organic methods of production and take pride in innovative re-purposing of materials, seed stewardship, quality organic inputs for our soil and crops, and creative presentations of our products to our community. We produce seedlings to jump start healthy home gardens, bouquets to bring that sunshine inside to brighten a day, and provide U-Pick opportunities to bring more people out into the buzzing, sweet smelling flower and herb fields.
For the 2025 farm season, when you order $75+ of seedlings you can pick out a FREE Little Farm T-Shirt or baseball cap (while supplies last!). We'll contact you for preference and size once you've placed your order. Special promotion made possible in partnership with our friends at Appalachian Sustainable Agriculture Project.
