Foeniculum vulgare
Features:
-Perennial
-Heirloom from Calabria, Italy
-Recommended for outdoor growing in a container or in the ground
-Comes in a biodegradable pot
We grow our plants from seed, start them indoors, and move them outside to the shade to acclimate to the weather.
To transplant, dig a hole a bit larger than the biodegradable pot, tear the pot in a few places, and bury the the root ball (including the pot) in the hole. You may also choose to add a bit of compost or worm castings into the hole before adding the plant. Water in thoroughly.

Variety description from Truelove Seeds:
"The wildly abundant seeds are harvested green and then dried for adding to soppressata (salami), soup, stew, spaghetti sauce... The seeds are also great for making a stomach calming tea. For eating, harvest the seeds when they are plump and green but before they turn dark and dry on the plant. Clip seed clusters about an inch below the umbel, and allow them to finish drying indoors. When fully dry, rub the clusters between your hand to remove the seeds. This is a bushy, leafy perennial that can grow 7 feet tall when flowering."
