UPDATE 2-15-26: We have one turkey left and it weighs almost 19 lbs, but it is labeled "missing pieces." we can't tell what's missing because it appears to have all legs and wings. perhaps the neck or the skin for some reason (error on part of butcher). we use a propane oven at the farm, and we can't justify running the oven for 5-6 hours to roast this turkey. the price listed is a big discount (original price $8/lb, this turkey should cost $150), and we lose money on this sale. we know it's still pricey, but 19 lbs is a lot of meat! === Turkeys will come frozen, and defeathered with feet and organs removed. As chicks, they ate an organic starter feed mix with 24% protein (high for poultry feed) containing certified organic ground wheat, soy, corn, alfalfa, sunflower seed, probiotics, vitamins, and minerals. Once out on pasture, we supplemented them daily with one meal of the same feed plus sprouted live organic oats. They also LOVED eating down our pasture grasses (clover, alfalfa, brome primarily) and searching for bugs. We moved their shelter every evening to ensure they were never sleeping in their own waste. They had about a quarter of an acre to roam enclosed within a fence, and we moved the whole patch to a new pasture every 2-3 days.. These turkeys lived the high life out in the sun, wind, and rain.
