Cold Hardy Hibiscus
Description
The beautiful perennial flowering shrub native to the eastern U.S.! Shrubs can grow to 10 feet tall and produce dinner plate-sized, vibrant pink flowers that bloom in August. A great Native substitute for invasive Rose Of Sharon. Hibiscus are monoecious (one house), and self-fertile. They are a favorite of pollinators and hummingbirds. Plant in well-drained, fertile, moist, and loamy soil, adaptable to a variety of conditions. Best in full sun but some light shade during the hottest part of the day works well. Can tolerate partial shade but will have less growth and flower production.
