About
Welcome to Our Homestead in Moores Hill Our homestead is founded upon a deep commitment to self-reliance and the vital preservation of rare heritage breeds. We operate under a simple, unwavering philosophy: to give back at least twice as much as we take. This belief guides our daily work, ensuring our practices remain kind to the earth and dedicated to saving endangered livestock. Why We Chose This Path Our journey began much like anyone else's who leaves the suburbs: we simply wanted a quieter life and the chance to provide for ourselves. But once we actually began living on the land, our hearts changed. We realised that just taking what we needed felt incomplete. We wanted to truly give back, and we made a promise to leave this little patch of the world better than we found it. It is incredibly easy to take the standard route in farming. Raising conventional breeds, like the Cornish Cross, is faster and demands far less effort. Yet, for us, taking the easy road lacked meaning. When we discovered the vital work of The Livestock Conservancy, everything clicked into place. We saw a chance to do something truly fulfilling—to help save rare, struggling breeds from fading away forever, whilst still building the self-sufficient life we dreamed of. Conservation Through Community Whilst we pour our hearts into the care of our animals, our mission goes far beyond our own fences. We believe that conservation is something everyone should be able to experience and support. Because of this, our U-Pick flower garden will be created in the Spring of 2027 as an open invitation to our neighbours and the wider community. We warmly welcome you to visit and wander amongst the beautiful peonies, lisianthus, sunflowers, and many other varieties. This garden will be more than just a place to grow flowers; it will be a way to bring people together. By inviting you to visit the farm and cut your own beautiful arrangements, we hope to share the joy of this land whilst giving you a direct way to support our heritage conservation efforts.
