About
Boxcar Acres is owned and managed by Erin and Mikey Richardson, and we are located in Henry County, KY on a 122 acre farm. Together, we grow through all four seasons to produce a wide variety of vegetables and herbs while also caretaking laying hens, bees, and a small herd of beef cattle. Our passion lies in creating and continually learning about holistic ecological systems that steward the health of our community and the land through seasonal eating. We use organic-equivalent, regenerative practices in our vegetable growing and in our pastures, and we never spray synthetic pesticides or herbicides on any part of our farm.

About 2025 Boxcar Acres Vegetable CSA
A weekly share of the best of the best veggies from our farm, and more!
Our vegetable CSA is a weekly box of the best of what's growing on our farm. We choose 6 -10 items and deliver them to conveniently located pickup spots throughout the city. You'll get salad and leafy greens in the spring, tomatoes and beans in the summer, root veggies and squash in the fall, and much more! It's a seasonal tasting tour of Kentucky that lasts up to 30 weeks, from the beginning of May to the end of November. We also have a limited number of egg shares available from our small flock of free range chickens that are fed non-GMO corn-and-soy-free food. We often get asked how much food is in the CSA. We will include 6-10 items each week. Our goal is for each box to include: fresh greens, like salad mix or arugula, cooking greens, like kale or collards, root vegetables (carrots, beets, radishes, turnips, etc.), alliums and/or herbs (garlic, onions, cilantro, dill), hearty vegetables (squash, potatoes, sweet potatoes, etc.), and fresh, fun veggies, like tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers, peas. We find that it is enough food for 2 adults who cook at home often or a larger family that cooks vegetables as side dishes.
