A Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) program is a relationship between our farm and you. By becoming members of this CSA, you will receive a portion of the farm’s harvest. Our vegetable CSA provides produce every week to feed approximately 1 - 2 people. Our CSA is broken down into 3 different Vegetable CSA periods: Spring, Summer, or Fall. This Share is for all 3 seasons.
Each week, you are given a list of 2 - 6 veggies that you will see in your bag as well as several items that you can choose from (usually 2 - 6 optional choices, for a total of 7 to 9). As a part of the optional list of produce, I will be offering fruit and some vegetables, like brussel sprouts, broccoli, and potatoes from McCleaf's Orchard. We also offer specialty mushrooms grown from The Garden International, a small urban mushroom grower out of Beltsville, MD.
The full CSA runs for 32 weeks beginning the weekend of April 17th/18th and ending the weekend of November 20th/21st. We do not have CSA pickups the weekend of July 4th and the Labor Day weekend resulting in a total of 30 pickup weeks.
Some examples of what you might see in a CSA share:
Spring: Lettuce, Radishes, Tatsoi, Salad Turnips, Early Carrots, Arugula, Apples, and Green Garlic.
Summer: Tomatoes, Cucumbers, Fresh Garlic, Ground Cherries, Lettuce, Yard-long beans, Basil, Microgreens, and Blueberries/Cherries/Peaches.
Fall: Salad Mix or Lettuce, Arugula, Green Onions, Garlic, Cucumbers, Radishes, Carrots, and Peaches/Apples/Pears.
Just a reminder that while we are not certified organic, we do follow many of the practices of an organic farm. We do not apply any herbicides and only use organic pesticide methods when absolutely necessary.
